Brakedir101

Description: Brakedir101 is the simple solution to encode all unencrypted ripped DVDs images on your hard-drive with one click! Additionally, I can transcode all avi and other video formats. This batch encoder was borne as the alternative to the buggy, slow/many click2 encode that are out there; but especially to gui of Handbrake.fr. Brakedir101 simplifies the enqueue process down to one click and walk away, using your preferred settings. It also avoids the bugs of the handbrake gui and engine (See advanced notes.)

Why?:

... Encoding a 6 gig DVD to a 600 megs makes your movies are watchable over a wireless network--on TV or notebook--when you are ready to view them (fair use is legal and no different than any transmission device or cache), or over Internet (if legal in your country or private). Brakedir101 is a simpler and faster to use than any batch DVD encoders I have tried;  the alternatives fail to grasp, that my and your time is worth money. Also, my program is more reliable than Handbrake, as I wrote around the bugs and issues I found. For example, a typical kid DVD will be scratched, (handbrake will fail to encode anything), Brakedir101-on the other hand- first encodes the DVDs as one movie to one file, then if failure at this task (as case with many titles on a singe DVD or scratched DVD or avi/not DVD),  it goes to mulitfilemode which scours the input folder for left over video to encode.

So unlike handbrake, et. al., on bad DVDs or DVDs with many titles, it also --when necessary-- recursively scours all sub-folders for video to shrink--output in one directory of your choosing.

Features are:

Fast, single click batch encoding of as many DVDs' as you have ripped and other video formats; no registry settings, conflicting dlls, or frustrating breakage on windows reinstall, no hangups as in main handbrake program or cli, due to rip specification violations; no waiting to read source; auto naming output files according to parent or grandparent directory in which it resides; multi-file mode for encoding all associate and bonus DVD files; encode mutiple audio tracks and one subtitle.

Download latest:  http://akronedge.info/handbrake

older version http://www.datafilehost.com/download-ea53f487.html

Installation:

There is no installer that throws dlls everywhere and writes to registry, or could change any system file.  But on first run (absence of configuration file in running folder), It will ask where you wish to run, set desktop shortcut, and input/output folder.

If you use the 200 k lite version, you must download and install Install handbrake from handbrake.fr or get your hands on handbrakecli.exe and cygwin1.dll

Usage:

It all starts out with a non macrovision dvd or many of these, put in the input directory.  See forum at video help as to where and how to get these.  It takes about 10 seconds your time per dvd to copy to a drive, once started walk away or do something else. Before bed, just click to encode, delete your source in morning. ... Alternately, you can trancode your camera avi files to a better size file.

Click brakedir101.exe to run. On first run, you choose input and output folder. You can optionally change the default settings later through tray icon gui or editing the brakedir101.ini file with notepad.

Next run, a single click starts encoding and you go to bed. It recursively encodes all DVD structures you rip to the standard directory. (That is to say, subfolders of the input folder is encouraged.)

Help:

Email original author degarb at gmail dot com for questions or for source. (No question is a dumb one -- only dumb, lazy, and underpaid designers. Of which charges, I do not deny.)

No improvements are planned by me, unless I am given a brilliant tip for a better batch file or settings by contributors.

Handbrake Gripes:

(See advanced notes for found bugs.)

(If like me-a frequent ripper-, you spend more time loading the queue than extracting the DVDs, get tired of slow title reading, outright inability to read many of your DVDs` (bad parsing of cli output bug), and have their 'cli' develop a hanging tendency on many items in queue; then your are ready for my Brakedir101 for single click encoding.)

handbrake.fr I am a fan, obviously, for flexible nature of design, purpose, and application. Fortunately, Handbrake is a simple, well designed program with fair amount of intuitive gui, little need of their board. Their downside is arrogant and ignorant board administration, which is bleeding bugs into the product (see my advanced notes) and condescension  that would cause any commercial product to fail within two years. With the popular need for this product, there is a numeric certainly for shining helpers in the group who believe no question is a dumb one, despite the comment by their board's T.O.S. that implies all users are idiots and the history of banning members that post-- in an off topic, tiki forum-- critical of censorship in a three paragraph post with practical and ideological downsides of this practice.
